Contex SD4400 Technical/CAD Scanners Receive BERTL's Best Award for 2008

by Diane Mitol

Bertl's Best 2008

HQ, Alleroed, Denmark, January 22, 2009 – Contex announced today that BERTL has awarded the Contex SD4400 series scanners the 2008 BERTL's Best Award for best value for price in a wide format scanner. This new award is in addition to the previously announced 4 ½ star "Outstanding" Award that BERTL gave to the SD4400 series in September, 2008 – the highest award yet achieved for a wide-format scanner. Contex introduced the SD4400 series scanners in June 2008, and it has rapidly proven to be a double award-winning wide format scanner.

Contex designed the SD scanner for maximum speed, affordable quality, and overall value for the money. The BERTL Best Buy Award proves that Contex has hit their target. The SD4400 series is built to last – for both high volume dedicated use or shared in an office environment. It features:

  • 1200 dpi optical resolution standard for unsurpassed image sharpness
  • All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) for a perfect grip on documents
  • Face-up scanning for ease of use
  • Ultra fast USB 2.0 interface with xDTR (Extended Data Transfer Rate), providing an unbeatable speed in real-world scanning situations
  • Scan-to-Net function for scanner sharing across a network, and for sending files to remote PCs
  • Scan-to-Email via Nextimage Multi-Function Software
  • Complies with current Energy Star requirements using less than 5W in standby, for greener scanning

The SD4400 series is designed for professionals who require ease of use, quality scans and value for the money they spend. It is used by engineers, GIS professionals, architects, construction companies, copy and reprographic shops.

BERTL calls the SD4400 series the "best value currently on the market for 44" scanners with a starting price under $10k." The SD4400 series comes with Nextimage scanning and imaging software. BERTL describes Nextimage software as "feature rich software (that) allows easy clean up of difficult drawings." BERTL further states that the SD440 series is "highly productive with high speeds of black & white and color scans." Contex's SD4400 scanners are designed to make it easy to scan technical documents, maps and drawings.

"The SD4400 scanners improve on standard CIS technology with Contex's enhanced CIS technology," says Niels Appel, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing. "Contex has led the wide format scanning market for years with our world-class CCD scanners, and we refuse to compromise on quality. With the SD4400 series, we have applied many CCD enhancements to CIS scanners, providing our customers with a whole new CIS scanning device that delivers consistently good results and long-term value." Appel adds, "This makes Contex the only large format scanning company who can offer the widest selection of no-compromise scanners."
